MC hosts National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer was held at the Madill Courthouse on May 6, 2022, and celebrated its 70th anniversary as a holiday. This event is an annual holiday that encourages all Americans to pray.

This year's National Day of Prayer included prayers for many things such as the community’s police department, schools, government, and more. The community event brought approximately 30 individuals, but they would love to have more people come next year.

This was Hignight’s first year organizing the event, and she said she enjoyed having everyone there. Hignight also said the event is held nationally “This is a good thing and people all over the United States are doing this, prayer is always good for everyone,” Hignight said.

Pat Bell, who attended the event, said she was delighted to be there. I try to attend the National Day of Prayer every year,” Bell said “I am a prayer, and I wanted to be a part of the community and encourage others to pray for our nation.”

First Baptist in Madill’s pastor Randy Kendrix spoke and had a prayer for this year’s event.. Kendrix said the event is a great way to bring people together.

“It’s good to gather together with other believers from other churches that we don’t normally have the opportunity to pray with,” Kendrix said.
