As the first semester of school year comes to a close, Mayra Andrea Torres Gutierrez, a student from Madill High School is making waves not only in the band but also in various extracurricular activities. Gutierrez is a dedicated senior who has spent her entire academic journey at Madill Schools, and her contributions to both the school and her community are truly commendable.
Gutirrez is not just a musician; she is also an active participant in soccer and a member of the National Honor Society. In band, she has particularly fond memories, with one of her highlights being the achievement of receiving all 1’s during last year’s competition.
Gutierrez attributed her success and aspirations to her supportive family—her parents, Fortino Torres and María Luisa Torres, have played a significant role in her journey.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and for having faith in me about what I want to be in life,” she expressed her gratitude towards them.
She said their encouragement has inspired her to pursue her dreams passionately. Her parents have also been her biggest inspiration in life, instilling values of hard work and determination that she carries with her every day.
In the realm of band, she said found inspiration from her friends, who encouraged her to join. This camaraderie has made her band experience all the more enriching and enjoyable.
Looking ahead, she said she has ambitious plans after high school. She intends to finish her college education at Murray before transferring to a university to study legal studies, ultimately aspiring to attend law school.
As Guitierrez prepares to graduate, she reflected on her favorite memories from school, particularly those sharedatthelunchtablewith friends. As she approaches this significant milestone, she had heartfelt words for her band directors.
