Madill Rose Garden plan year’s activities

Madill Rose Garden gathered on August 1 at the Madill City Library Community Room to plan their 2019-2020 club activities with twelve members in attendance.

Members discussed programs, devotions, hostess, committee assignments, and South Central District Fall Board meeting which the club will be hosting on Thursday, October 10 at 9:00 a.m. at the OSU Extension Exposition Center. Everyone is excited for the coming year of activities.

The “Pledge of Allegiance” was led by Sand Baker followed by the “New Conservation Pledge.” Mary Jane Lowery led the ladies in the “Gardeners Prayer” for our monthly devotion.

Susan Patton announced our 2019-2021 slate of officers. Those serving will be Susan Patton – President, Vice President Sandra Sweeney, Secretary and Reporter Becky Ninemire, and Treasurer Kay Jaye.

During the South Central District Fall Board Meeting on October 10 our club will be hosting nine garden clubs for a day of education, fellowship, and fun. Members were reminded to bring items for a silent auction. Willa Dean Caldwell is the District President and Bonne Holdeman is the District Secretary.

Day Lilly Sale will be held on Saturday, September 7 in Oklahoma City at the Will Rogers Garden Center. Plants of several varieties will be available for purchase. If interested in attending, contact Linda Green. Oklahoma Zoo and Oklahoma State Garden Clubs will present a “Monarch Butterfly Education Day for Children and Adults” on Saturday, September 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma Zoo.

Becky announced that Oteka Beasley’s eighty-fifth birthday will be honored with a reception on Saturday August 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Kingston United Methodist Church. Mary Jane announced that Mary Lois Jones will celebrate her ninety-sixth birthday on Monday, August

12. Members and community are encouraged to send these long time members of our club a birthday greeting.

Sandy Baker served fruits and cookies to Oteka Beasley, Willa Dean Caldwell, Margaret Clark, Doris Farris, Linda Kaye Green, Kaye Jay, Mary Jane Lowery, Becky Ninemore, Judy Parkey, Susan Patton and Kart Wellman.
