Judy Parker presented a “Happy Gardening” program to Madill Rose Garden Club on March 5 in Room 107 of the Marshall County Courthouse at 10:00 a.m. with nine members in attendance.

She discussed dragonflies, fireflies, bees, butterflies, and bees’ importance in the making of a productive garden. She encouraged limited or no application of herbicides and pesticides on plants and yard using natural insects and other natural resources to control pests in your garden areas.

Susan called the meeting to order, followed by the reciting of the “Pledge of Allegiance” and “The Gardener’s Aim” in unison, led by Judy Parkey. Becky Ninemire presented the devotional using Matthew 7:14. She entitled her devotion “Counterfeit.” She talked about the resemblance of a hummingbird and a hummingbird moth. Sometimes what we perceive as a true picture is actually a counterfeit. Roll Call was “Spring Gardening Hin.”. February 6 minutes were presented, and Kaye Jay presented monthly treasurer report.

Mary Jane Lowery announced that J&I Manufacturing has agreed to build a new “Yard of the Month” sign for the club.

Bryan County Master Gardener’s Spring Garden Show will be held on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18 at the Bryan County Fairgrounds between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Rose Garden members will be attending on Friday, so members are asked to meet in the west parking lot of the First United Methodist Church at 9:00 a.m. If you plan to attend, contact Susan.

Willa Dean Caldwell announced that Nan Lacy will be honored with a 90 th Birthday Party on March 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 201 West Main, Moore, Oklahoma. Cards may be sent to Nan Lacy, Southwest Mansions, Apt 65, 9900 S Western Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73139.

Willa Dean invited everyone to a Pansy Garden Club Meeting in Ardmore on March 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the former Carnegie Library Building. Anyone wishing to attend, please contact Willa Dean.

Mary Jane served as hostess, serving cookies, candy, apple juice, and water to Sandy Baker, Willa Dean Caldwell, Linda Kay Green, Becky Ninemire, Judy Parkey, Susan Patton, Sue Shilling, and Karen Wellman.
