Lamiyah Brown

As the basketball season really kicks off, Madill High School shines a light on one of their standout athletes, Lamiyah Brown. A dedicated senior, Brown has made her mark both on and off the court, embodying the spirit of teamwork and perseverance.

She is a proud member of the Class of 2026, supported by her parents, LaToyia and Michael and the rest of her family, who have been a constant source of inspiration and encouragement.

Having attended Madill Schools for three years, Brown has immersed herself in the academic and athletic culture. Heavily involved in basketball, she said she plans to attend college, continue playing and ultimately pursue a professional career overseas.

'My favorite school memory was our state sendoff junior year,” Brown said..” The energy, the pride, and knowing we made it to state together was unforgettable.' In basketball, she recalled thethrillofcompetingagainst friends and cousins last year, ultimately beating them to secure a spot at State.

'The competition was intense, and it’s a moment I’ll always remember,' she said.

Brownexpressedheartfelt thanks to her directors for their unwavering support: 'Thank you for always pushing me to be better, on and off the court. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me.'

She also extended her gratitude to her parents, emphasizing their vital role in her journey.

'Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to be the best version of myself. Without you, none of this would be possible.'

Brown credited her family for their sacrifices and support, propelling her to work harder every day.

In basketball, she said she looks up to Stephen Curry, who has taught her that 'size doesn’t matter; confidence, heart, and hard work do.' His influence encourages her to trust her skills and keep grinding.
