LaJeanne’s Plants N’Things bring you back to Oz

On Saturday October 16, 2021, LaJeanne’s Plants N Things hosted yet another fantastic festival, this one rightfully named The Wizard Of “EN” Oz, at their gardens in Enos Oklahoma.

Saturday was one of the most beautiful days of Fall 2021, that was reason enough to get out and enjoy the festival. The festival was named Wizard Of “EN” Oz simply because it was held in Enos, Okla. The festival was a great place to meet up with the gang, as all the characters from the 1900 children’s novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” were represented in full living costume.

Festival attendance was free of charge and came complete with pictures with the characters. A giant photo area was created from straw hay bales and many pumpkins. Most folks have seen the “Wizard of Oz.” With little bit of imagination, one would think they were walking right down the yellow brick road on to the movie set while strolling into the gardens.

Having created such a wonderful festival set, one might expect that the host herself would be in character of the Wizard, but even better, LaJeanne was the wicked witch of the west, but she didn’t fool anyone. Lajeanne has hosted many festivals and said she does it for the community.

“I do this for the community because many folks and especially kids, do not get the chance to experience being on a farm or farm animals much less a theatrical setting,” she said. “Lots of people like to come out to our place and sit to take in nature and enjoy the view.”

Everybody is welcome to her farm. She said she treats everybody as family.

“If you stay long enough, I might just put a garden hose or shovel in your hand,” she said with a chuckle.

The festival also had several vendors offering an array of handmade items from T-shirts to pastries. While at the festival, a stroll through the garden is inevitable and as usual, the plants are spectacular, and most are in full bloom. LaJeanne and Gary Reid

LaJeanne and Gary Reid have one of the largest and oldest gardens in Marshall County, and of course, have a magnificent vegetable garden with tons of peppers and even tomato plants with blooms and green tomatoes.

It goes without saying that LaJeannes fall festival will be added to the list of great things to do in Marshall County. So, if you hear of anything going on out at LaJeanne’s, you can bet it will be wonderful.

Even if a special event isn’t happening, take the time to stop in and enjoy the place, it might just be as wonderful as a trip down the yellow brick road. At least it is as close to clicking the heels of red rhinestone shoes together that a person can get. Stay in the loop of what is happening at LaJeanne’s Plants N Things on Facebook.
