The wait is finally over for members of the Class of 2020 as both Kingston High School and Madill High School will hold their graduation ceremonies this week.

Both schools had their ceremonies delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both districts will have social distancing practices in effect.

Up first is Kingston High School as its graduation is scheduled for 7 p.m., Friday, June 5 at the KMAC.

Each KHS senior will receive six tickets for graduation, KPS superintendent Brian Brister said in a statement.

“This will adhere to the CDC guidelines for social distancing,” he said in the statement. “The ceremony will also be live streamed for those that will not be able to attend.”

KHS senior were scheduled to receive their tickets at a graduation practice on June 2.

Across the county, Madill seniors will take the stage at Blake Smiley Stadium the next day.

The MHS graduation is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6.

Madill Public Schools announced June 1 that the stadium’s north gate will open at 9:15am and will be the only entrance used to enter the stadium.

MHS seniors will receive ten tickets to the ceremony.

The district is only allowing graduates or their family designee to pick up tickets from the high school office. Tickets can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June 1 to June 4.

The district announced that while graduates will be seated on the football field, attendees can sit on both the home and visitors bleachers.

“Due to the unprecedented time of this event, graduates will walk around the track in front of both bleachers,” the statement continued.

The district will also restrict access to the field as part of continuing pandemic-related health measures.

“No parents or guests will be allowed on the field and will be asked to promptly exit the stadium,” the statement continued.

“Hand sanitizer, programs, and masks will be available for those entering the stadium. We ask that proper social distancing and safety precautions be followed during this event.”

Madill Public Schools have advised that professional photographers will be taking pictures during this event.
