In the September 26 issue of The Madill Record, it was reported that Jessica King, a 32-year-old from Tishomingo was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Drivers License, and Foil or Defeat Urine, Drug or Alcohol Screening Test. King has since been awaiting trial while being housed in the Marshall County Jail.
King apparently wanted to add more charges to fight, because on September 29, deputies received a complaint from an inmate that she had used meth and believed it was affecting her medication. This left deputies trying to figure out the who, where and how.
Deputy Latasha Broadhead was informed by the Detention Officer on shift that several other females were suspected of ingesting the meth. Broadhead then began questioning the inmates and found one common thread; Jessica King.
Each inmate alleged they received the meth from King. A drug test confirmed the officer’s suspicions. During her investigation, Broadhead found that King had allegedly smuggled drugs into the housing unit, and then traded the drugs for calling cards from other inmates.
After submitting five more felonies on King, Broadhead was then tasked to find out how the drugs made it past security protocols. The discovery was that an improper search was completed by a Detention Officer.
Disciplinary action was taken against the officer, and Marshall County Sheriff Danny Cryer updated the protocols to impede the ability of inmates smuggling contraband into the jail.
On top of the current felony charges that King is facing –Trafficking in Illegal Drugs and Possession of Forged Notes or Instruments – she has also added Bringing Contraband into Jail/Penal Institution, and four counts of Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substance – Meth.
