Grace Hartin, a Madill student, was awarded the $1,000.00 Texoma Excellence in Fine Arts Scholarship. Joel Northcutt of Tishomingo Chevrolet presented the scholarshiptoheratanevent.

Hartin is a member of the International Thespian Society and the National Art Honor Society. She was a State Qualifier in OSSAA Speech for three years and Speech Captain.

Northcutt said her years in band, music and theater catapulted her in the running for the scholarship.

“Grace's influence extends beyond her involvement in the Madill Band and Vocal Music programs, where she also served as Drum Major,” he said. “Her performances, ranging from the Wicked Witch of the West in 'The Wizard of Oz' to roles in 'Long Tall Lester' and 'Grease,'havecaptivatedaudiences and highlighted her versatility as a performer.”

Northcutt noted that not only is Hartin active in the arts, she also dedicates herself to community service. She also volunteered to assist with Veteran’s Day and Rotary Club activities.

She enrolled at OSU and will be starting her college career in the Honors College. Northcutt said she will major in Aviation and minor in Theater.
