In the March 8, 2018 issue of The Madill Record, it was reported that Tasha McCuan, a 44-year-old female teacher from Kingston was facing three charges of Second Degree Rape. The suspect turned herself in on March 1.

The following day, McCuan bonded out of jail on a $20,000 bond and pled not guilty. Court records show that information about the former teacher having inappropriate relationships with students found its way to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations seven months prior to the charges.

The former teacher held on to her innocent plea for over a year. She was originally slotted to go to court to face a jury on her charges on September 11. However, on July 24, a motion was filed to set a date for a plea on August 26.

Also, on August 23, another motion was filed on behalf of the case. A “notice of intent to offer evidence of prior bad acts.” In other words, officials stated they had evidence that either this occurred many times, or they have proof of other wrongdoings.

On August 26, McCuan pled guilty to one charge of Second Degree Rape, and two were dropped in lieu of the plea bargain. An online search shows the former teacher was charged with four counts of Second Degree Rape. At the time of publishing this article, it is unclear what happened to the fourth charge. McCuan is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on October 7.
