AsGeoffreyChaunceronce said, “All good things must come to an end,” this statement rings true in Marshall County. After 34 years, Larue Wilhite retired from the Marshall County Election Board. Wilhite’s name was synonymous with the election board because many people worked with her during her years of service as the secretary.

Kammie Elmore took over as the new secretary. Wilhite said she is sad to leave, but knows it was time to say bye to the position. She wishes good luck to Elmore in the new position.

“I hope that her appointment as Secretary of the Marshall County Election Board is as good to her as it was to me,” Wilhite said.

Pat Bell, who is the Vice Chairman of the Marshall County Election Board held high praise for Wilhite. Bell is serving her fourth term on the board, and said she was always pleased with Wilhite’s work. Bell said it won’t be the same without Wilhite there.

“It will be a big change not having her here,” Bell said. “It’s like losing a piece of history since she was here for 34 years.”

She also mentioned that Wilhite was precise in her duties as secretary and she will be missed by everyone on the election board.
