Well, I have been away for a few weeks and it sure is nice to be back.

I guess we missed some horrendous weather while we were away.

February is upon us already and warmer temps are sure to follow.

I want to mention that the “Burning of the Socks” event will be coming up on Saturday, March 14 between 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be a free wiener roast, Chili Cook-Off that will be judged at 11:00 a.m. and the Polar Plunge will happen at 1:00 p.m.

There will also be a Dunk Tank, Bounce House and the C7 band will play from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a fund raiser for the Lake Texoma Association, as well as the yearly Buncombe Creek Fireworks and the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept.

There will be more information as it gets closer. For information on the Chili Cookoff, please contact Paulette at 580-230-8053. It will be great fun, so please plan on attending.

The Texoma Southern Baptist church will be hosting their church family “Valentine’s Dinner” on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:00 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $9.00 and is for adults ONLY. I know they have games planned and prizes to give away. It will be a lot of fun.

The Buncombe Babes Red hat group will enjoy their luncheon on Friday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. They will be meeting at Hobo Joe’s for this month’s get together.

I hear the Perry Park Community Center is getting a new facelift. I can’t wait to see the end result.

The girls are really busy making it a truly nice gathering place for folks to hold parties or meetings. Be sure to contact the park to make reservations for usage.

For those who received their annual Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. membership letter, please try to submit your favorite recipe for their Cookbook fundraiser.

It is a great way to raise money for the department and also your recipe will be entered to share with everyone.

Be safe and I will talk to you next week.
