There will be a fundraiser tohelpwithmedicalexpenses for Kyle Biship, a local Madill woman. In March 2020, Bishop had a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, the surgery thatwassupposedtoimprove her quality of life did the exact opposite.
During the surgery, her nerve to her bladder was severed.Shehad25surgeries in the span of two years to attempt to save the bladder; none of them succeed. Many medical complications have popped up due to this.
Bishop was accepted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. It was there that they discovered Bishop had Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. This causes the body to produce too much histamine and she frequently experiences drastic allergic reactions.
She now requires daily benadryl IV drips to suppress the allergic reactions. She currently lives with nephrostomy tubes going through her back to both of her kidneys. Her ureters have so much scar tissue, she needs reimplantation into the urostomy.
She has an eight to thirteen hour reconstructive surgery scheduled at the Mayo Clinic for October 22. She had two pre-op appointments on October 6 and October 15.
The fundraiser is to raise money to cover costs of traveling to the Mayo Clinic, lodging and food. Any donation, no matter how big or small, will assist Bishop and make her trip less stressful, allowing her to focus on healing.
The fundraiser will be October 23 at Tibbs Auction in Ardmore at 6 p.m.
