It’s hard to believe February is almost over. Our weather has certainly been up and down, and colds and flu are wreaking havoc with a quite a few people.

We have lost several dear hearts here in the Buncombe Creek Area these past days. Linda Bach, Fayelene Conner and Mike Turner have left a tearful reminder of our short stay here on earth as we reminisce the times shared with these sweet souls. Their passing has left heavy hearts throughout the area. Our blessing goes out to all those affected by the loss. The Creek won’t be the same without them.

Anchor ‘N Restaurant is open seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with Friday and Saturdays staying open until 9:00 p.m. Be sure to stop by and try their delicious menu items.

March is coming fast and so is the “Burning of the Socks” fundraiser. It will be on Saturday, March 19 beginning at 11:00 a.m. and will be held in the parking lot across from the Marina store. The Chili Cook-off will start the event followed by the Polar Plunge at 2:00 p.m. This event is for the fearless. All donations benefit the BCVFD and the Lake Texoma Assoc. Please attend to show your support. More information will be provided soon.

There are plans to provide an Appreciation Dinner at the Shay Community Center on March 10 at 6:30 p.m. This is a complimentary meal for anyone, and we encourage your membership in joining the center for $7.50 a year. You’re welcome either way. Be sure to come. This is a great way to meet your neighbors in the Shay area as well.
