At the March Madill City Council meeting, City Manager James Fullingim announced that he and two other members of the city council, Mayor Travis Williams and Vice Mayor Bobby Davis, recently toured the ESRO Processing Plant in town. The purpose of the visit was to verify and see a demonstration of additional equipmentthatESROrented to help breakdown waste by-products that had been wreaking havoc on the city’s waste treatment plant.

The equipment will be used in tandem with the DAFT systems in place. The system that is in place is rented from an independent company, TruClear Water Solutions, Inc. which operates out of Abilene, Texas.

Since the company is renting the equipment to ESRO, they will be the ones to maintain the equipment. The device in place uses “Advanced watertreatmenttechnology with a non-chemical approach.” according to their website.

Through a process called Advanced Molecular Oxidation (AMO) technology, it works to break down the bonds that hold molecules together. The process is said to workbyacombinationofelectrochemistry and catalysis to transform select molecules found in contaminated water requiring environmental treatment.

Fullingim said the new equipment is working.

“It is actually working and the DAFT system they put in that everyone thought was going to work just wasn’t cutting it,” Fullingim said. “It was getting the numbers down where they were getting close to what DEQ was wanting them to do, but they were not meeting the standards we required.”

Fullingim and Mayor Travis Williams both called the new equipment “amazing”. Fullingim explained that the equipment being used would be rented and run by thecompanyTruClearWater Solutions.

“They don’t sell the system to people, they only rent it,” Fullingim informed the council. “They are the ones that operate it. That way they have full control over the water.”

“That's the news I have been wanting to bring you for a long time,” he continued.. “So, I am just so glad we have it.”

He added that once the system is “tuned in”, it will resolve the problems that the city and ESRO have been having. Fullingim stated that TruClear Water Solutions would be going to the city waste treatment plant to see about having this same system installed to help with the other smells coming from the plant. Fullingim said he hoped to have more information about how it is working by the April city council meeting and suggested that the remaining council members take a tour of the ESRO plan to see the system in place.
