A local man was arrested after leading Madill Police on a chase through a neighborhood. A frantic call to Marshall County Dispatch is what set the events in motion on January 17.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Officer Dustin Atnip was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue. The female reporting party informed dispatch that a male subject at the residence was refusing to let her leave, and was being aggressive. She also stated he pushed her.

While Atnip arrived on scene, he noted that silver Nissan sedan leaving the residence, heading down the alleyway. Atnip approached the female standing in the door, and inquired if the aggressor was in the vehicle that left.

When she affirmed that it was the one who was being abusive, and that is was her boyfriend, Randall Polster.

After radioing another officer to inform him what the suspect was driving and where he was headed, Atnip then asked the female victim is or her children were injured, she stated they were not. also informed the officer Polster possibly had a knife in his possession.

While asking he victim the questions needed to ascertain the situation, he heard Sergeant Smith was in pursuit the silver Nissan. Atnip heard over the radio that Smith pursued Polster west on Lillie Boulevard, then jumped in his vehicle to join the pursuit.

Once in his own patrol unit, watched Smith pursue the Nissan north on South Fourth Avenue, then into the alleyway between Lillie Boulevard and West Taliaferro. As Atnip joined the chase, the suspect traveled east on West Taliaferro, driving past him. The suspect then stopped back at his residence on Fourth Avenue.

After he escorted Polster to his patrol unit, Atnip went back to speak with the victim. She informed the officer that “Polster had not slept in four days due to using Meth.” The victim tried to gather her two young children ― five and one ― and leave the residence. Unfortunately, just like when she attempted to leave on January 16, Polster would not let her leave. The first time she tried to leave, the suspect let the air out of all of the vehicle’s tires. She also claimed he removed her SIM card from her phone.

She also stated that the suspect had become physically abusive by pushing and shoving her, threatened her with knife, and had punched holes in the walls. The victim claimed Polster had installed a camera in the ceiling, but had since removed it.

Sergeant Smith located a plastic package with a white crystal substance similar to Methamphetamines. He asked for consent to search the resident to ensure the safety of the children, and Newton agreed. However, Smith’s search of the residence came up empty. The substance later tested positive for Meth.

Polster was charged with Endangering Others While Eluding/Attempting to Eude Police Officer, Kidnapping, Domestic Abuse/Assault & Battery in the Presence of a Minor, Possession of CDS (METH), and No Valid Insurance. He is being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $50,000 bond and his initial court appearance is set for February 20.
