On Sunday, August 10, the City Lake in Madil was transformed into a vibrant gathering spot for the first annual Recovery Picnic. This event was organized to honor the journeys of recovery for individuals and families in Marshall County. Starting at 7 p.m., the event witnessed an incredible turnout, bringing together friends and family members united in celebration of their loved ones' recoveries.
The atmosphere was filled with joy and camaraderie, as attendees enjoyed delicious cake, hotdogs and a variety of sides and drinks. A highlight of the evening was the waterslide, which provided fun for kids and adults alike, fostering a sense of community and togetherness. Many participants had the opportunity to reconnect with friends and fellow recovery advocates, with some sharing heartfelt reunions after years apart.
Event host Shanna Rue said it was a day of miracle.
“There were definitely miracles present,' Rue said. 'God was definitely in the midst.”
Her enthusiasm was contagious, and she shared plans for another picnic in the near future, aiming to continue this inspiring tradition.
