A local man is facing multiple charges after a stand off on April 6. The Marshall County Sheriffs Office responded to a call in the Enos area in regards to a process server who was shot at while attempting to serve papers. The process server, Tommy Sutherland, said that when he attempted to leave, Rodney Stidham, a 55-year-old male from Kingston blocked and rammed him.
While officers were in route to the location, MCSO dispatch continued to get information from Sutherland. While the deputies were on their way, Stidham retreated back into his residence.
Officers with MCSO and the Lighthorse Police Department arrived on scene and began investigating. Once they got Sutherland's statement, they attempted to make contact with Stidham. Officers knocked on his door multiple times, but received no response.
Officers then saw Stidham in his residence and requested to speak with him. He refused to answer and comply with law enforcement.
After several failed attempts to speak with Stidham, Yow spoke with the Lighthorse Police Department and requested assistance from their SWAT team.
According to records, Stidham was in the residence alone. While officers attempted to make contact with Stidham, Yow returned to the MCSO and prepared a Probable Cause Arrest for Shooting with Intent. He also prepared an Affidavit for a Search Warrant and a Search Warrant for the residence.
Yow said that Stidham has a long criminal history, and they needed to recover the firearm that was used to shoot at Sutherland. Stidham is forbidden to be in possession of a firearm due to his criminal background.
After several hours, Stidham exited his residence and was arrested. Officers searched his residence and found several firearms and ammo. Yow said that the MCSO has responded to 13 incidents from 2023 to present.
Stidham is facing charges for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of a Firearm After the Formal Conviction of a Felony.
