For dinner on Friday night, we headed to Fat Bully’s, a lively eatery known for its mouthwatering burgers and welcoming vibe. Nestled alongthehighwaywithviews of the lush Arbuckle terrain, the restaurant’s ambiance perfectly complements its hearty menu. We opted for the tail pipe for our appetizer, a smoked link of Cajun boudin served with a spicy mudbug sauce. I could have eaten just this as a meal.
Then, for our entrees, we ordered the Toolbox, a seasoned grilled chicken breast with a siracha ranch sauce and pepper jack cheese and fried onions, which was cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful and stacked with fresh toppings. The hand-cut fries on the side were crispy and seasoned just right.
We also had the Fat Bob Nacho, corn chips smothered in smoked pulled pork and brisket, queso, lettuce, tomatoes and topped with onion crisps. They host live music to the energetic atmosphere, making it a great spot to unwind and enjoy good food withfriendlylocalsandfellow travelers. After dinner, we made our way to the Backyard bar for a little karaoke.
Before we left, no trip to Sulphur is complete without a visit to Poor Girls Cafe. This beloved diner is a local institution, and it’s easy to see why. The menu is brimming with classic comfort food, from fluffy pancakes to hearty omelets. We both had thethreeeggsandhasbrowns with the biscuit and gravy. The portions were generous, the service warm and attentive and the atmosphere as cozy as it gets.
