The Madill Wildcats handled the Stilwell Indians for their 2nd straight win in a 49-21 victory on Friday, October 20. The home crowd got a chance to see their Wildcats open up some offense with a heavydoseofHarlemHolmes rushing and Eli Vinson driving the ball down field both on the ground and in the air.

Madill got the scoring started midway through the 1st quarter with a Vinson 19-yard touchdown pass to Caden McHatton to give the Wildcats an early lead. The extra point was converted to give Madill a 7-0 lead.

Stilwell had an answer on their ensuing drive. They finished off that extended drive with a Juan Martinez 11-yard touchdown pass. After the extra point, the score was tied at 7 apiece with 2:19 remaining in the 1st quarter.

Madill then went to the ground game with a heavy doseofHolmesonadrivethat put them at the doorstep of the endzone as the 1st quarter ended.

They opened the 2nd quarterwithaHolmes1-yard plunge for the score. That would be a sign of things to comeforHolmesforthenight. The PAT put the Wildcats up 14-7 early in the 2nd.

On the Wildcats’ next drive, a costly Stilwell penalty extended the drive and made way for a big 59-yard strike from Vinson to Miguel FajardothatputMadillatthe one-yard line for a 1st and goal opportunity. That drive was capped off by a one-yard Luis Rodriguez touchdown run midway through the quarter, and after the extra point the Wildcats stretched their lead to 21-7.

After Stilwell’s next drive stalled out, the Wildcats were back at it with another balanced drive led by Vinson and Holmes. That drive culminated in Holmes’ 2nd touchdown of the night from one yard out. The extra point gave the Wildcats a commanding 28-7 lead with 1:53 left before halftime.

Stilwell got the ball first in thesecondhalfandweremoving the ball until they took a shot downfield through the air, but the ball was tipped and intercepted by Holmes at their own 40. Madill’s drive took nearly five minutes off the clock and was riddled by penalties on both sides. After a Vinson quarterback sneak put the Wildcats inside the Indian five-yard line, Holmes finished it off with his 3rd touchdown of the evening from four yards out. The PAT made the score 35-7 in favor of Madill.

After another stalled out Stilwell drive late in the 3rd quarter, the Wildcats started at their own 45-yard line. After a 13-yard pass to get the Wildcats into Indian territory, Vinson broke off a 46-yard touchdown run on the keeper. Uziel Flores tacked on another extra point to give Madill a 42-7.

Just when it looked like Stilwell was completely out of it, the Indians returned the kickoff all the way down to the Madill seven-yard line to put them in scoring position. Cash Kelly rumbled for a seven-yard touchdown run to chip away at the Wildcat lead. The Indian extra point put things at 42-14.

Stilwell tried an onside kick, but Madill recovered and started their drive in good field position. Holmes broke off a 16-yard run down to the 25 to set up the next Wildcat score. Vinson hit Flores for a 25-yard touchdown pass and catch, extending theleadto49-14with1:10 left in the 3rd after the PAT.

The 4th quarter was relatively quiet, as both teams exchanged scoreless drives. Stilwell made a late push and added an 18-yard pass and catch touchdown along with the extra point to make the score 49-21, which remained as the final score. The win upped Madill’s record to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in district play on the season, with a matchup against 3-5 Hilldale on October 27..
