On December 15, Coach Chad Rumer had to be very proud of his girls after they took care of the “other side of the bridge” Silo Lady Rebels, 43 to 18. Admittedly, Silo is not as loaded as they have been in the past. However, it was the way the number 10 ranked (class 3A) Lady Redskins took care of business that was impressive.

The first quarter could be summed up as hustle, work and defense. The offense was slow coming around, but that’s alright when the opponent is unable to get off a decentshot.Whenthescoring did get started, it was senior Emily Bellettini who got it rolling with a three pointer and an inside bucket. The LadyRebelscouldnotanswer for Bellettini’s inside post up moves. Junior Joley Heydon was 2 of 2 from the line. Freshman Avery Ludrick continues to impress, she had a bucket. After one it was 9 to 0 with the Lady Redskins firmly in control.

Rumer was already into his bench to keep fresh defenders on the floor. These ”fresh defenders” are freshman players who can give the starters a rest and keep the tempo up. They played hard, fast and really got after their opponent.

Heydon was snatching rebounds and scoring. She had a three, and a two-point field goal. Bellettini had a three and was 1 of 2 from the line. Ludrick added a three and a two-point field goal.

Coby Davis had a bucket. Jayda Foster was rebounding and was 1 of 2 from the line. Meanwhile, the Lady Rebels did not score their first points until mid-way in the quarter. The score at the half was 26 to 3.

In the third, Bellettini made sure the game and tempo stayed in her favor. She had three more buckets oninsidemovesthattheLady Rebels just couldn’t stop. Foster, again, was rebounding and getting to the line where she was 1 of 2. Heydon had another basket. Silo scored but the lead was too much. The score going to the fourth, 35 to 12.

In the fourth, Bellettini had two more buckets, Jaci Herndon had a bucket as did Cassidy Walker. The bench took over early. The Lady Redskins came away with a 43 to 18 thrashing of the Lady Rebels.

Box score: Bellettini had 19 points including two three pointers. Heydon was next with 11 points including a three pointer. Ludrick had a nice game with seven, she wasfollowedbyFoster,Herndon, Davis and Walker who all had two points.

The Lady Redskins next take the court, on January 4 in their own New Years Classic at the KMAC.
