Kingston v Elgin

Fans were anxious to see how the Redskins would bounce back from the triple OTlossatMadillonTuesday. They definitely bounced back in the first round of the Dale Tournament on December 7.

The Redskins took Elgin to the woodshed with a 74 to 60 win. Possibly team and individual three-point field goal records were set because it was raining threes.

Brock Rumer came out ready to set fire to the nets. He got started with four three pointers in the first quarter. Reid Cason had a big dunk and a free throw. Sam Walker had a bucket. Even with that shooting, the Redskins trailed by 1, 18 to 17, after the first quarter.

In the second, Rumer just kept shooting and kept hitting the threes. He added three more to his total. That madeseveninthehalf.Whatever he had it was contagious because Ewan Weaver fired off two of his own three pointers. Seeney thought “why not” and let loose two threes. Cason and Parks Ratzlaff each had buckets. Walker had a free throw. Now the Redskins led, 44 to 33.

Could the Redskins continue thescoringonslaughtin the third quarter? Cason had a bucket and two free throws. Rumer had another bucket, this one a two point. Weaver was not finished from behind the arc. He added another three. The score after three quarters was 53 to 47, with the Redskins in the driver’s seat.

In the fourth, Cason was open underneath, no doubt due to the outside shooting of his teammates. He had two big dunks. Rumer had another three, his eighth of the night.

Seeney added another, making him three in the game. Weaver hit for two morethreesgivinghimatotal of five for the game. Seeney had another field goal, a two point, Ratzaff was 2 of 2 from the line. Hayden Everhardt was 1 of 2 from the line. The final score, 74 to 60.

Boxscore:Rumerhadacareer high 26 points, including eight three pointers, Weaver had a career high 15 points, including five three pointers. Cason had 13 points including three big dunks. Seeney with 11 points, including three three pointers. Parks had five points, Walker three and Everhardt with one.

Kingston v Dale

On December 8, Coach Bobby McAdoo and the Redskins tookontheDalePirates in the second round of the Boomerang Classic at Dale High School. The Pirates are the reigning two-time state champion class 2A team. They are 49 and 1 in the last two seasons. It was all Dale and they won, 68 to 50.

The entire Redskins team had problems scoring and the pressure Dale put on the ball had turnovers coming in bunches. Reid Cason was the only Redskin who had any luck at all on the offensive end. He had six points in the quarter. Parks Ratzlaff had a bucket while Sam Walker and Eli Oliger each had a free throw. The score after one quarter, Dale, 28 to 10 over the Redskins.

Inthesecond,Casonagain had two buckets and Hayden Seeneyaddedathreepointer. Going into halftime, the Pirates lead was 47 to 17.

The third quarter had Cason continuing to battle away down low. He had two buckets and was 4 of 5 from the line. He also managed to foul out the Pirate big man. Hudson Everhardt came in and managed to hit two three pointers and Seeney hit his second three. The Pirates still had control, though, 65 to 34.

Fourth quarter had both teamswellintotheirbenches. Ty Jones had four points. Walker, Seeney, Lander Burkhalter, Reid Patterson, Rafe Patterson and Blane Henry all had two points each. The final score was 68 to 50. score:Casonleadtheteam with 18 points, next up was Seeney with eight, followed by Everhardt with six. Jones had four, Walker with three, Burkhalter, Ratzloff, Henry, Rafe Patterson and Reid Patterson all had two. Oliger with one.

Kingston v Byng

The Kingston Redskins faced off against the Byng Pirates in the third round of the tournament on December 9. The Byng team is a well-known Lake Country Conference opponent of the Redskins and Coach Bobby McAdoo.ThePiratesheldthe lead all night and fought off a fourth-quarter flurry to beat the Redskins, 58 to 53.

In the first quarter, Reid Casonhadabucketandwas2 of 2 from the line. The Pirates had two 6’8” starters and any inside work was brutal. Brock Rumer had a bucket and Parks Ratzlaff had a free throw. The score after one was 13 to 7.

Thesecondquarter,Cason had four buckets and was 3 of 4 from the line. The “Twin Pirates” were struggling to stop Cason. Rumer had a three and that was it for the quarter. The score after two, 29 to 21, with Byng holding the lead.

Hayden Seeney had a three that turned out to be the only field goal of the third quarter. The Pirates kept hacking at Cason and Ratzlaff sending them both to the line. Both were 2 of 4. The lead swelled up, now Byng led, 44 to 28.

In the fourth, Rumer and Seeney nearly shot the Redskins back into the game. Rumer was good for triple three pointers and a two -oint field goal. Seeney added two morethree-goalsandwas2of 2 from the line. Cason had a field goal and was 2 of 2 from the line. Ratzloaf fought his way to a field goal. It was a twenty-five-point effort. In the end Byng was five points better with a final score of 58 to 53.

Box score: Cason lead the team with 21 points. He was 9 to 11 from the line. Rumer had 16, 11 of which came in the fourth, Seeney was next with 11, eight of which came in the fourth quarter. Ratzlaff was good for five points.
