At just 18 years old, John Woody V is already making a name for himself as a senior at Madill High School. With a passion for sports and a drive for success, Woody has become a well-respected figure both on and off the field.

He said his parents, John IV and Maren Woody, have been a constant source of support throughout his journey. Alongside his brother Ethan, Woody grew up in a loving and nurturing environment that has fostered his love for sportsandencouragedhimto pursue his dreams.

This year, Woody is actively involved in basketball and baseball. However, his dedication to athletics goes beyond his current commitments. In the previous year, he participated in basketball, baseball, and track, showcasing his versatility and passion for various sports.

Reflecting on his high school experience, he acknowledged the challenges he faced during his junior year. He said that moving from the suburbs of Dallas, Texas to a small town in southern Oklahoma was a significant change for him.

However, despite the initial difficulties, he has found a sense of belonging in Madill. The support and friendship he has received from the community have created lasting memories that he will cherish.

When it comes to his biggest inspirations, he credited his father and grandfather for shaping his love for sports and instilling important values in him. His father has been his coach in various sports throughout his childhood, teaching him the importance of effort and determination. Meanwhile, his grandfather, John Woody III, has shown him the power of humility and the impact of actions.

As a senior, Woody offered valuable advice to underclassmen. He encouraged them not to let setbacks define their journey and emphasized that failure is a natural part of life. However, he remindedthem that expecting failure is not acceptable, and they should always strive for success.

Among his favorite memories insports,hesaidwinning the 'shoe' in basketball stood outthemost.Thesignificance of this achievement is amplified by his recent immersion in Madill's history and the understanding of the rivalry behind it.

Woody extended his gratitude to his coaches for their guidance and support. He thankedCoachWilkersonfor introducing him to weightlifting and making senior year basketball an unforgettable experience. He also expressed his appreciation to Coach Hayes and Coach McHatton for reigniting his love for baseball.

Above all, he expressed his deep appreciation for his parents. He recognized the countless sacrifices they have made for him and acknowledged that they are his biggest supporters. Their unwavering love and guidance have shaped him into the young man he is today, and he said he is forever grateful for their presence in his life.

Looking toward the future, Woody said he plans to attend Oklahoma State University after graduating from high school. While he is still exploring his options, he is considering a double major in Engineering and Construction Science.
