Grace Hartin is a senior at Madill High School. She is actively involved in various extracurricular activities and has achieved notable success in academics and competitions. Her parents are Brad and Lori Hartin, and she has a younger sister named Claire Hartin.

Grace’s involvement in school activities is extensive, as she participates in Band, Speech/ Theatre, FFA, Academic Team, NHS (National Honor Society), NAS (National Art Society), Gifted and Talented, Student Council, Vocal Music, and the youth group and Praise and Worship team at FBC Madill. In these activities, she holds leadership positions such as Band Drum Major, Speech Captain, and Student Council President.

She has excelled in Speech competitions for the past three years, qualifying for the State level in Humorous Duet and Standard Oratory categories. Additionally, she has represented her school at the State level in Band and FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Hartin has been involved in Speech, Band, and FFA for a long time, starting from elementary school for Speech, joining Band in sixth grade as a clarinet player, and participating in 4-H and FFA cattle shows since she was eight years old.

She said one of her biggest challenges is her dyslexia, which occasionally presents difficulties in English-related subjects. However, she has found that participating in Fine Arts activities has helped her overcome many of these challenges.

Among her high school memories, Hartin said she cherishes the times spent hanging out and carpooling with her best friends. Additionally, advancing to the State level in Band during her senior year holds a special place in her heart.

Hartin said that Mia Laird is the person who inspires her the most, encouraging her to become a better person every day. Band and Speech have also been sources of inspiration for her, as they have taught her resilience and provided her with lifelong friendships. Hartin said she is thankful for her her parents, grandparents, Laird, Jaylee, Luke, Chance, Dominic, Austin, Andie, and Reese for their support and influence.

In the coming fall, Hartin said she plans to attend Oklahoma State University (OSU) with a major in Aviation and aspirations of becoming a pilot. She will also minor in Aviation Management and Safety. Her advice to younger classmates is, “Step out of your comfort zones and try new things. Although it may be intimidating at first, taking risks is ultimately worth it.”
