Ladies v Marlow

On January 4, the Lady Redskins started off the year and the New Years Classic with a win against the Lady Outlaws from Marlow. It wasn’t pretty but a 31 to 19 win is a good start. The Lady Redskins never found their shooting stroke, but as Chad Rumer once said, “you can always defend”. So that was exactly what they did.

In the first, Rumer had his girls fast out of the gate with constant ball pressure from end to end. They tried but just could not match the pace and intensity that the Lady Redskins brought. The Lady Redskins spread the scoring out with Joley Heydon leading the way with two buckets. Emily Bellettini had a bucket and a free throw.

Jacie Herndon, Jayda Foster and Avery Ludrick all scored buckets. Marlow managed five points, giving the lead to the Lady Redskins at 13 to 5.

The second quarter was more of the same. Marlow could not get into any kind of offensive set. Heydon was a perfect 4 of 4 from the line. Foster had a bucket and was 1 of 2 from the line. Bellettini and Olivia McAlister each scored buckets. The score at the end of the first half, was 24 to 9.

The second half scoring for the Lady Redskins was almost non-existent. Yet, the defense never faltered. Bellettini and Foster each had field goals. Ludrick was 1 of 2 from the line, and that was it. Marlow managed their best scoring quarter of the night with 10 points. However, it was too little too late. After three, the Lady Redskins still led by ten points, 29 to 19.

Kingston tighten up the defense and finished out the game. The Lady Redskins managed a bucket by Heydon in the fourth quarter. That was all they needed as Marlow failed to score. The final score, 31 to 19.
