The U.S Supreme Court has been facing a lot of buzz lately. With President Joe Eiden nominating Ketanji Brown Jackson to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court, and the former President, Donald Trump, thwarting her nomination for the role, it's safe to say that Kentaji Brown Jackson is a name well known, but who exactly is she?

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Miami, Fla. Brown Jackson attended Harvard University for and graduated in 1996 with a Juris Doctor cumlaude.

Mter law school, former President Barack Obama nominated Brown J ackson to become vice ch air of the United States Sentencing Commission on July 23,2009. The U.S. Senate confirmed Brown Jackson by unanimous consent on February 11, 2010. Obama nominated Brown J ackson to serve as a judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia on September 20, 2012, wh ere she was introduced by Paul Ryan, a relative through marriage.

So, with that much experience within the world of the Supreme Court and law, Eiden's nominee should be a good fit. Some don't seem to think so. Former President, Donald Trump being one of them. Trump has accused Brown Jack son of being "unbelievably disrespectful" towards Republican senators during her Supreme Court confirmation hearing.

Judge Br own Jack son faced tense questioning from senators on both sides of the aisle. Democrats sought to highlight her qualifications, while Republicans cast her as "soft on crime" and pressed her key social issues. While it is a top priority to analyze Brown Jackson's decisions since she's being considered for a role in the Supreme Court, it is also important to see who Brown Jackson is as a person.

She married Dr. Patrick Jackson, and together, they have two children , Leila (17) and Talia (21). Patrick's twin brother William, is married to Dana Little Jackson. Dana is Dan Little's daughter.

Dana Jackson said she is proud to call Brown Jackson family and gave a little insight to who the Supreme Associate Justice candidate is as a person .

"She (Ketanji) was one of my bridesmaids for my wedding," Dana Jackson said. "When our kids were small, we managed to have Sunday night dinner together most weeks.

We would watch American Idol together every week and were quite good with our predictions."

Dana Jackson said she is looking forward to seeing what Brown Jackson will do next.

"I have enjoyed watching her amazing career of service as a public defender; as a Commissioner of the U.S. Sentencing Commission and most recently as a federal judge," she continued. "I look forward to seeing her put on the robe as an Associat e J ustice of the Supreme Court of the Unit ed States. I know that she will wear it well with her admirable combination of experience, intelligence, grace, faith, love of country, kind spirit, and work et hic. I have enjoyed h aving a literal an d proverbial front row seat to history during Ketanji's confirmation hearings."

With that said, it's unknown as of yet whether Brown Jackson will be confirmed for the role, but either way, she is still an amazing candidate with a vast array of experience for the role. The Judiciary Committee is set to vote on Brown Jackson's nomination on April 4, 2022.
