Lawana Jean Self

Lawana Jean Self, 86, of Carrollton, Texas passed away on February 17, 2023, at the Lake Village Nursing and Rehab Center in Lewisville, Texas. She was born on April 23, 1936, in Kingston, Okla. to the late Charles Horace LeFlore and Hazel Everett LeFlore.

She grew up in Kingston where she graduated from the Kingston High School in 1954. Lawana married Ralph Gilford Self on April 6, 1956 in Dallas, Texas and he preceded her in death in November of 2006. While living in Dallas, she worked for the Dallas Times Herald and Sears. In 1986, she moved back to Kingston and worked for Jeff’s Flowers. Lawana was a member of the Kingston Church of Christ and she enjoyed painting, gardening and loved her grandchildren.

Lawana is survived by her children, Keith Self of Carrollton, Texas, Brian Self and wife Debra Duff of Denton, Texas; four grandchildren; 15 Great grandchildren; sisters, Oteka Beasley of Madill, Okla., and Brenda Jones of Kingston, Okla.; and brother, Paul LeFlore and wife Sandra of Aubrey, Texas.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Watts Funeral Home in Kingston, Okla. from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the Watts Funeral Home in Kingston, Okla. at 2:00 p.m.

Chris Webb will officiate the Service, Internet will at  the Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
