The Earlsboro Police Department happened upon a lot of green after a traffic stop. On June 12, 2022, Earlsboro Police Officers pulled over a vehicle for speeding. Officer Chris Harmon said they initially clocked the driver, Peng Ye, doing 62 miles per hour, then 82 in a 55 zone.

After making contact with Ye, officers smelled the strong odor of marijuana. Upon closer inspection, the officers stumbled upon the town’s biggest drug bust. Ye, a 31-year-old male from New Jersey, was found to have approximately 70 lbs. of marijuana in the vehicle with him.

Officer Jonathan Perry said it was massive.

“It overwhelmed me,” Perry said. “It’s the first big bust I’ve ever been in, and I’ve been doing this for 28 years.”

Ye is facing charges for Trafficking in Illegal Drugs and Speeding. Earlsboro is approximately an hour and a half north of Marshall County.
