BCF: Wonderful fall events

With the wonderful weather and the various Fall Festivals that have been coming to the area these last weekends, I've had an enjoyable first few weeks of fall so far.

The Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. had their Open House/Chili Cookoff this past weekend. The turnout wasn’t as well as I had hoped it would be, but I think that may have been one of the best and last fall days for a while. Folks are trying to get out into the open while the warm days last.

Iwanttomentionthatour long-time resident, Cotton Armstrong turned 95 this month and is still going strong. Happy Birthday Cotton. On a sadder note, another long-time resident, Barry West passed this past week. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Anchor ‘N Restaurant in Buncombe Creek is doing a great job of providing our local residents a place to eat during the week. They are open seven days a week now from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. all week except Fridays and Saturdays, they're open 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Be sure to stop by as the food and the owners are awesome.

Don’t forget the Madill Art Show will be held on October 21 thru 23 at the Marshall County Expo Center in Madill. This event will be held Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Artists from all over are entered so be sure to stop by and put your ticket in the “People’s Choice” jar as well as see the daunting works from some very talented people.

Most works are for sale at a very reasonable price. Not much this week but you better get your Halloween candy ready for those little goblins next week. Stay safe.
