BCF: Sweetheart's Day

February sure came in with a storm, literally. It has been cold, icy and rainy.

A far cry from our earlier Januarysunshineandwarm temps. I see on the horizon that warm weather and sunny days are ahead, although Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow, forecasting six more weeks of winter. However, Staten Island Chuck did not, signaling an early spring. I vote for the latter.

It is with sadness I post that we lost our own I.W. 'Cotton' Armstrong on Friday, January 27. He was a longtime resident of Shay who owned and supported theShayCommunityCenter.

He was a true marvel at operating tractors and workingonhispropertyat95 years old. He will be greatly missed.

TheShayCommunitywill be hosting several dinners this month starting with their monthly potluck on Thursday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m. Bring your favorite dish and enjoy visiting with your neighbors. Everyone is welcome.

Also on February 15 at 6:00 p.m., the Texoma SouthernBaptistchurchwill host their Youth Fundraiser to attend Falls Creek with a fabulous spaghetti dinner and dessert. Be sure to stop by, eat a scrumptious meal and help the kids by supporting their attendance to summer camp.

The Open Arms Clothes Closet will be open for those who would like to pick up some warm clothes or any item they have in stock that you could use.

They will be operating on Saturday,February18tfrom 8:00 am. to 11:00 p.m. in the Baldwin Storage Unit #94. All are welcome.

The emails will be going out soon to remind everyone tohelpsupportJurassicPark this summer for the various improvementsthataremade throughout the year. There will also be a booth at the 'Burning of the Socks' event that will be held on March 18 to purchase your new 2023 Purple Sticker.

Hope you all have a sweet Valentine's to share the day with. But for those who have lost their loved one, remember, it's just another day.

With your love and stored memories, its just a heartbeat away from being with them again. 'You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream'. Have a safe week!
