Summer is here and Buncombe Creek is coming alive with weekend tourists and folks anxious to get out on the lake to fish, swim or sunbath on our beaches around Lake Texoma. The Marina as well as the Anchor ‘N Restaurant and various businesses in the area are busy with the demands of folks getting away from the city for a few days.
The National Sand Bass Festival is in Madill June 5 throughJune10. Thisisafun event that I try to attend each year. Hopefully, the weather will hold out for all to enjoy. In June, the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. will be hosting their 14th annual Golf Tournament to be held at the Buncombe Creek Golf Course in Willis, Okla. This is their main fundraiser for the year.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the various events. More information to come soon.
The Shay Community Center potluck will be held off a week due to the Sand Bass Festival being the highlight for that week. The dinner will be held on June 15 at 6 p.m. instead. Please bring your favorite dish and join us for an evening of delicious food and fellowship.
The 21st annual Twin Ponds Golf Cart Regatta, Fireworks display, Fishing Derby, and Turtle Races are comingsoontotheBuncombe Creek area starting Saturday, July 1 and finishing up on Sunday, July 2. I will post moreinformationsoon. Have a good week.
