Here we are in the middle of March already and St. Patrick’s Day is coming up on March 17. I will probably be serving Corned Beef & Cabbage on this day as is the general custom with the Irish. Don’t forget to wear green or get pinched.
The youth from the Texoma SouthernBaptistChurch will be hosting their annual Fundraiser on Wednesday, March 15 at 6 p.m. at the Shay Community Center to help with their trip to Falls Creek for summer camp this year. The menu is a Mexican Pile-onwithadessertauction to follow. It is by donation, so plan on attending to help make this a reality. Everyone is welcome.
The Open Arms Clothes Closet will be open at Baldwin’s Storage Shed #94 on Saturday, March 18 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. It is a great place to browse for clothes you may need for school or any outing. Everyone is welcome to come by.
The Burning of the Socks event that we have all been waiting for will be on Saturday, March 18 at the Buncombe Creek Marina. The chili cook-off begins at 11a.m.withthePolarPlunge at 1:30 p.m.
During the day there will be a bounce house for the kids, auction items to bid on, homemade bakery items for sale and DJ Jess will be here spinning the tunes for all to enjoy. It will be a fun filled day so burn those socks for flip flops, as summer is around the corner.
The Texoma Southern Baptist Church is pleased to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for their new churchbuildingat4501Shay Rd in Kingston on March 21 at 2 p.m. Church service was held at this location for almost 51 years before the building was destroyed by the tornado that ravaged this area exactly a year ago on this day.
The church will include a dedicated sanctuary for worship and church activities, offices, classrooms, and a fellowship hall. Please join themincelebratingtheirnew church building.
TheBuncombeCreekFire Department will be hosting their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. As always, everyone is welcome to attend and find out what is going on. New recruits are always wanted so come on down and enroll.
