BCF: Golf Cart Regatta

This year’s fourth of July went down with gusto as a fabulous showing of fireworks was presented by our local volunteers as well as other entities in the area. It marks yet another wonderful display of patriotism.

We had many folks swarming to our area to enjoy boating, swimming, and picnicking. There were a few accidents but no fatalities that I know of in our area.

The Golf Cart Regatta was one of the best in a while due to the time and effort spent on decorating not only the cart but folks showing up dressed to depict the theme they were presenting as well. Our very own Cris Wooden was honored as Grand Marshall for the event. He and his wife Pam and mother Mary Fite were the first in line to start the route through Buncombe Creek.

Fishing is still great on Lake Texoma. Ask any of our fine guides for a trip and you will get your limit.

I haven’t heard for sure, but I think the lake level is gradually going down to reach normal capacity. With the heat index reaching in low 100’s, you will probably be out and back in fairly early.

Reminder that the Open Arms Clothes Closet located at the Baldwin Storage Unit #90 will be open from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 16.

The Shay Community Center will again host their monthly potluck on Thurs day, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. Come by with your favorite dish and enjoy the fellowship with your neighbors. Everyone is welcome.
