BCF: Finally cooler weather

Withthefallseasoncomes cooler, pleasant temps. This month seems to be a flurry of activities. The Buncombe Babe’s Red Hat group will be venturing to Sherman on Friday, October 7 for their monthly luncheon at the Cracker Barrel.

For the art buff, there are three local art shows this month.TheMerryMeadows Farmhostedtheir2ndannual Fall Festival on Ocober.1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They had over 75 booths, barrel train ride, pumpkin patch and much more.

The Firefly Art Festival will be held October 7 through October 9 at LaJeanne’s Plants N Things located at 6909 Enos Road in Kingston. Admission and parking are free.

There will be food trucks and live music much of the time along with over 80 vendors who will have their wares available for sale. Bring the kids and enjoy this event.

The Madill Art Show will be held on October 21 through October 23 at the Marshall County Expo Center in Madill. This event will be held Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Madill Art Club has been active for over 60 years now and has over 40 members. Be sure to stop by and choose people’s choice and be inspired.

The Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. will be hosting their Open House on Saturday, October 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Kingston Pharmacy will be there to administer flu shots. Also find out what is new with the EMS and Air-Vac crews.

Thisyear,thedepartment has decided to have a Chili Cook-off. The departments personnel will make the chili, with the public choosing the winner. The winner will be announced at the “Burning of the Socks” cookoff event in March. Be sure to come out for drinks and snacks as well as choosing your favorite Chili.

Kingston Schools will have their Fall Break from October 12 to October 14.. Be safe and have a good week.
