The annual meeting of our local BC Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. The election of three new board members will be on the agenda as well as other topics of interest. Everyone is welcome.
Also, on Tuesday, April 19, the station will hold their monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. The public is welcome. They want new recruits so please come by. Stay tuned for information in the future on the fire departments annual Golf Tournament scheduled for June. The “Open Arms Clothes
The “Open Arms Clothes Closet” hosted by the Texoma Southern Baptist Church will now be operating out of Baldwin Storage Unit #94 until further notice. They will be open April 23 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
April 17 is Easter Sunday and due to the tornado damage, the church has cancelled their annual egg hunt this year. However, there will be an Easter Egg hunt at the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. grounds from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 16 for youngsters. They have worked hard on this venue, so be sure to bring the kiddos.
The Marshall County area did not meet the criteria for FEMA disaster assistance, but they did meet the threshold for SBA disaster assistance. They will offer low-interest disaster loans for the people affected. Folks can go to the Marshall County Expo Center. at 11545 Hwy. 70 in Madill Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m. for further information.
The Anchor ‘N Restaurant has been a main staging area for food and supplies along with the church parking lot during this time for the relief efforts. They have been awe some in their caring attitude toward the community. Kudos to them and to so many others who are too numerous to mention who have helped lighten the load for all of those affected during these trying times.
There are several area fundraisers going on for the disaster relief efforts. The “Buncombe Strong Benefit” for the area will be held on April 30 at 11:00 a.m. with free admission. It will be held at the Buncombe Creek Marina parking lot and will include music all day, silent and live auction items, Corn-Hole Tournament, Bouncy House and much more.
