BCF: Dead heat of summer

Hot, hot days are ahead for this coming week. The temps will reach in the 100’s. Stay inside if you can and stay hydrated. Many try to stay in or near the water on sultry days like this.

With Kingston schools starting their new year for classes on August 11, it reminds us to watch for children and buses as they again move around the area picking up school children, so be aware.

This has shown up on KTEN already but wanted to mention that the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. raised nearly $30k to provide 900 weather radios for the residents in Buncombe Creek. Volunteers are going around giving them out to folks as they have time. Be patient, they will all get dispersed soon.

The Buncombe Babes Red Hat group enjoyed their monthly luncheon at the Santa Fe Cattle Co. in Ardmore on Friday, July 15. Six ladies made the trip and will meet up at the Twisted Cuisine in August.

The Lake Texoma Association’s Bash for Cash is again in the works and will be held at Tanglewood this year on August 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. The theme this year is Margaritaville and will be a blast as always.

Call 580-564-2334 for more information and buy your tickets. This is a big fundraiser for generating interest and monetary donations to help promote tourism around the Lake Texoma area.

Be sure to attend. You won’t be disappointed. Not much news this week. Stay safe and cool.
