BCF: Chili cook-off planned

The Firefly Art Festival was held October 7 through October 9 at LaJeanne’s Plants N Things and was a huge success with folks coming from all over to enjoy the food, entertainment, and art venue throughout the grounds. I’m sure they are already planning next year’s event.

The Shay Community Center will host their monthly potluck on Thursday, October 13 at 6:30 p.m. Bring your favorite dish and visit with your neighbors.

Don’t forget the Madill Art Show which will be held on October 21 thru 23 at the Marshall County Expo Center in Madill. This event will be held Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Madill Art Club has been active for over 60 years now and has over 40 members.

The Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. will be hosting their Open House on Saturday, October 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Kingston Pharmacy will be there to administer flu shots.

The department has decided to have a chili cookoff with the fire personnel making the chili and the public will be deciding which recipe takes the prize. The winner will be announced at the “Burning of the Socks” cookoff event in March. Be sure to come out for drinks and snacks as well as choosing your favorite chili.

The fire department will also be having their monthly meetingonTuesday,October 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the fire station. Come on out and hear what is going on or you can sign up to volunteer as theyarealwaysneedingnew members.

A reminder that the Kingston Schools will have theirFallBreakfromOctober 12 through October 14.
