Did anyone else purchase their corned beef and cabbage items to prepare on Thursday, March 17 for our Irish holiday, St. Patty’s Day? I make this every year and usually add green food coloring to the drink of choice. Make sure to have plenty around.

The Texoma Southern Baptist Church will be hosting their Mexican Pile-on meal this Thursday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. The meal is by donation. Following the meal, they will hold an auctioned bake sale to build more revenue for the kids to attend Falls Creek this summer. Come and help them reach their goal.

Also, on Saturday, March 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Open Arms Clothes Closet will be open at the church. Come on by and find some clothes for Spring.

The Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Department is reaching out to anyone interested in becoming a fire fighter. We urge you to contact Scott Robinson, fire chief at 580-686-0467 if interested. Time to volunteer is now.

The classes are free of charge. This is a great way to serve your local community. Monthly meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

The big event of the year is happening this Saturday folks. Saturday, March 19. The seventh annual “Burning of the Socks” and “Swap to your Flip Flops” event comes to the Buncombe Creek Marina parking lot.

The venue this year will be better than ever with live music, carnival games, dunk tank and wiener roast to name a few. The event will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the Chili Cookoff leading the way, followed by activities nearby, bouncy house and a dunk tank. The Polar Plunge is a must see starting around 1:00 p.m.

Volunteers are neede. They really need raffle items for the raffle table. Please stop by the marina store. The proceeds will help benefit the BCVFD, the yearly fireworks display as well as the Lake Texoma Assoc. Be sure to help support this event. Have a safe week.
