Hopefullyeveryonepicked up their weather radio from the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Department while they were at the Burning of the Socks event the weekend of the March 18. They are truly handy to have as they will alert us to the storm activities in our area during these spring storms.

Everyone in the BCVFD’s area can get one. Also be sure to pay your dues to the fire department as it assists with the many costs associated with attending to fires and general upkeep for their trucks and equipment.

The Texoma Southern Baptist Church held their groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, March 21 at 2 p.m.. It was held exactly a year from the date of the devastating tornado that ripped through our area.

There was a nice turnout which included our local politicians as well as our own church deacons and members. The new building is in the works with construction coming soon.

I want to remind folks that the Shay Community Center is available for meetings, family reunions, celebrations, etc.. There is a $25.00 deposit for members and $50.00 for non-members. There is no charge for funeral dinners or memorial services. You can contact Kim Gentry for reservations at 580-8840373.

Warm weather is fast approaching so everyone should be cleaning up those garden spots in preparation for hearty produce. April Fool’s Day is Saturday, April 1 so plan your fools joke with friends or loved ones. Have a safe and blessed week.
