Mullin it over: Celebrate National Police Week

During National Police Week, we recognize the brave men and women of our law enforcement and pay special tribute to the officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This is an important time for Americans to come together to show appreciation for our local, state, and federal law enforcement officers and remind them that we Back the Blue, despite calls from the left to defund the police.

To the over 8,000 police officers in Oklahoma, thank you. Thank you to the deputies and civilian support staff who work 24 hours a day to protect our communities. Thank you to the U.S. Capitol Police for their outstanding work, especially this year. My family and I owe our safety and security in Washington to these brave law enforcement officers, many of whom I am honored to call friends.

Every day, our men and women of law enforcement put their lives on the line to protect our communities. They sacrifice time away from family and friends to serve the public and are always among the first to respond in a crisis. During the winter storms earlier this year, the Tahlequah Police Department opened their station to residents in need of shelter in addition to providing emergency response. Police officers worked overtime to provide essential services and partnered with the community to collect food and clothing donations for the homeless. This is just one example of police officers across the Second District who have gone above and beyond in service to our communities.

This week, we also honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and protection of others. These fallen heroes will never be forgotten, and we must always support their families as well as their brothers and sisters in law enforcement. We continue to pray for healing and peace for the loved ones of those who have lost their lives in service to our country.

Our police officers deserve our utmost respect for the work they do every day and I will always support them. To our Second District law enforcement officers, we know that a single week is not enough time to recognize the extent of your service and sacrifice, but please know that you have our confidence, support, and gratitude.

Please take a moment to thank a law enforcement officer this week as we collectively recognize those who have bravely answered the call of duty in service to our communities. May God bless our law enforcement and their families.
