Enos:

Welcome to the last week of August. School is in full swing and Fall is around the corner. It is difficult to believe that we are nearing the end of 2019, which, as usual, will be the busiest time for most of us.

This coming weekend is Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of summer. Where did Labor Day come from? Labor Day was created as a way to acknowledge and pay tribute to the workforce for all that they have done to make our country prosperous and strong.

The first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City and other cities followed. In 1894, Congress passed a law marking the first Monday of September a legal holiday. Now that you know, have a great Labor Day.

The Enos Community Center will be holding a fundraiser this Saturday, August 31, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a Mexican Pile-On dinner, dessert and drink for $8.00. This will be held to help raise funds for the newly replaced air conditioning unit for the Community Center. Make your plans to attend this fundraiser and support your community.

The Firefly Art Festival is scheduled for October 10 through October 13. This is an opportunity to enjoy shopping, live music, food trucks and arts/crafts.

Mark your calendars for this great event. It will be held at LaJeanne’s Plants ‘N Things at 6909 Enos Road, Kingston.

Happy Birthday wishes to Josh Gillette, Lisa Skinner, Jim Lowe and Stephanie Moore.

There will be a fundraiser for the Lark Cemetery on November 9, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Enos Community Center. They will have beans and cornbread as well as a silent auction. The funds raised will be used for upkeep expenses and new fencing for the Lark Cemetery. Donations can also be sent to Lark Cemetery c/o Terri Weaver Baker, 11885 Weaverville Lane, Kingston OK 73439.

Have a great holiday weekend, stay safe and do something nice for someone.
