I wanted to take this space to wish everyone in House District 49averyHappy Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that is easy to miss if you’re not careful. The kiddos get all excited over Halloween, and then people start planning for Christmas and Black Friday shopping. But I personally love Thanksgiving, and not just because it’s a day to overindulge in food and football.
It’s a great day to count our many blessings. First, off I’m thankful for the Lord for how good He is and for all He provides. Then, I’m thankful for my family – my wife, who does so much for all of us, and for my boys and our extended family. I’m grateful for the time I’ll get to spend with them over this holiday season.
I’m thankful for our home, that my wife makes beautiful, and the community we live in and all the activities in which we are involved. I’m thankful for each of the constituents I have in House District 49 – all 38,523 of them. I’m thankful for the great schools we have throughout our House district, for the administrators, teachers and other staff members who take such good care of the students and their families. I’m thankful for our first responders, including our law enforcement and fire fighters, many of whom will work Thanksgiving Day so the rest of us can enjoy a holiday inpeaceandsafety.Onthatnote,I’m incredibly grateful for the sacrifice of our military members and our veterans. Please remember to say prayers for them and their families this Thanksgiving.
I’m thankful for the great state of Oklahoma, where we feel safe raising our family according to our conservative values, where we’re free to prosper in business and life. I’m thankful, as well, for the United States of America – always the home of the free and the brave. I’m grateful for our Constitution, for the vision of our forefathers in forming this incredible Republic.
I could go on and on, but I know you get the idea, and I trust you each have your own long lists of things to be thankful for on this most American of holidays. Whatever you do this week, I hope you do it in gratitude.
