Reed Cason begins his fourth season and senior year as a Redskin. He showed up to start school at 14 years old, lighter than he is now but quite tall. Four years later, he is heavier and still very tall. At 6’10”, tall he stands out anywhere he goes. Each year, he has added strength, basketball IQ, and leadership skills. Now, his senior year is upon him, and the Redskin faithful are anxious to see what he will bring to the table in 2023-2024.

A four-year starter as a Redskin, Cason is without question the leader on the court. As a junior last year, he had a good year considering he was one of two players old enough to have a drivers license. Most of the team were freshman.

He was already used to seeing double teams, but this was even worse. He still averaged a double/double in points and rebounds. That fact probably won’t change this season, but he will have help around him that is now experienced. This should translate to more wins.

The summer of ‘23 was a busy one for Cason. Besides all his team camp activities with the Redskins, he again played AAU ball (17 and under) with the team from Norman sponsored by former OU standout and current NBA All Star, Trae Young. This took him to tournaments in Las Vegas, North Carolina and Memphis, Tenn. The physicality, speed and talent in this league is tops in the country.

Cason has always let his play on the court do his talking. He rarely shows emotion, anger or joy.

He just goes about his business of rebounding, blocking shots and rim rattling dunks. However, something seems different this year. For one he is a physical specimen Cason was measured to show his actual height. He is 82” tall. His arm span, fingertip to fingertip, was 6’11 ¾”. This is not good news for his opponents. With no doubt, he is arguably one of the best in the state. Redskin fans will be treated to some exciting basketball in the 2023-2024 season.
