The University of Oklahoma Sooners Baseball team (OU) had an impressive run that came to a bitter end for their 2022 season. The Sooners made it all the way to the College World Series and competed against the Ole Miss Rebels.
Unfortunately, the Sooners lost to the Rebels in game one on June 25, 2022, with a score of ten to three. OU lost to the Rebels again on June 26 in game two with a score of four to two. The Rebels’ win made them the 2022 College World Series Champions with two wins. As heartbreaking of a loss as this was for the Sooners, they still had an excellent season and broke the expectations of many.
At the beginning of the 2022 college baseball season, OU was ranked sixth out of the 12 baseball teams in the Big 12 Conference. The Sooners weren’t even ranked in the top 25 college baseball teams until late March of the 2022 baseball season. OU was not expected to make it all the way to the College World Series, but they proved their doubters wrong. There are only two seniors on the team, so the Sooners should have most of this team back next season to try and win the 2023 National College World Series.
