Madill sweeps Pauls Valley in wrestling dual

Madill’s wrestling team racked up a bevy of points from forfeits to take the high school contest and made it a clean sweep of Pauls Valley in junior high dual action last week to even their season record at 3-3.

Seven forfeit wins gave the Wildcats an insurmountable 42-point cushion in the high school matchup as Triston Barnes, Braxton Gimenez, Colton Sandefur, Amauri Winston, Tyner Roberts, Aaron Rodriguez and Noa Seals were all awarded victories in the 48-16 rout of the Panthers.

Jackson Harper added Madill’s lone match win at 132 pounds as he stopped Chuck Newell on a pin fall in the third period.

It was a much tougher test in junior high with the Wildcatsmanagingtoprevail 48-33.

Madill picked up forfeit wins at the smallest (80 pounds) and largest (heavyweight) classifications with Canyon Phillips and Gage Knight recording those.

At 92 pounds, Saul Martinez posted a first period fall victory and Layne Dorer followed with a third stanza fall triumph at 98.

The Wildcats added three straight fall triumphs beginning at 112 pounds with Coltyn McQueary scoring the first frame win. Brayden Valles followed with a first period fall win at 119 pounds andDaytonGimeneznotched a third straight pin in the second period at 126 pounds.

A final fall victory for the Wildcats came at 155 pounds as Alex Romero tallied the first period decision.

The Wildcats were slated to face McLoud and Bristow to wrap up team district competition this week.
