Madill HS, JH track places at Conference Meet

Plenty of high placers highlighted the way for the Madill high school and junior high track teams in the Annual Lake Country Conference Meet on Saturday in Marietta.

In the high school division the Lady Wildcats were fifth while the boys squad claimed fourth in the final team standings. The junior high Wildcats posted an outstanding second place finish with the girls group ending in fourth place.

Madill’s high school girls’ squad had a pair of individual runner-up finishes with Zeplyn Thomasinthe100meters with a personal best time of 13.15 seconds and Yadira Barbosa in the 1,600 meters at 5:38.63. Barbosa also added a third-place time of 12:05.08 in the 3,200 meters.

There were a pair Lady Wildcat placers in the discus as Madelyn Ritchie took fourth at 97 feet, 11 inches, while Addy Miller was sixth at 96 feet, 10 inches. Anglena Mendiola chipped in a sixth in the shot put with a heave of 28 feet, 4 ¾ inches.

The Lady Wildcat sprint relay unit of Kali Henry, Tillie Chapa, Hadon Stuckey and Thomas was second in 52.60 seconds with the same grouping also taking third in the 800 relay at 1:51.93. The 1,600-relay combination of Thomas,Stuckey,Chapaand Nene Stumblingbear ended fifth with a time of 4:25.10.

For the boys, it was Wildcat domination in the discus whereGilbertoGrimaldotook home the conference title with a personal best toss of 137 feet, 9 inches. Aroddy Camacho checked in fifth at 121 feet, 9 inches with Trace Pruitt sixth at 118 feet, 3 inches. Grimaldo also had a fifth-place toss of 37 feet, 5 ¾ inches in the shot put.

In the 200 meters, Jaxon Diaz crossed the stripe in second in 23.91 seconds with Jose Menchaca ending third at 24.03. Ryder Douglas ran a personal best 2:01.99 for third in the 800 meters and James Valadez checked in sixth in the 3,200 meters at 10:31.44.

Madill also had two of the top placers in the pole vault as Christian Robledo placed second at 14 feet and Triston Barnes was fourth at 12 feet even.

All four Wildcat relay teams placed with the foursome of Diaz, Jose Menchaca, Camacho and Joaquin Menchaca taking fifth in the sprint relay in 45.85 seconds. The same unit was fourth in the 800 relay at 1:36.09.

Madill’s 1,600 relay squad of Camacho, Diaz, Douglas and Jose Menchaca ended fourth in 3:35.01 while 3,200 group of Douglas, Flavio Ibarra, Jose Campos and Valadez also claimed fourth at 8:32.53.”

The Lady Wildcat junior high girls finish was keyed by a dominant showing in the 300 hurdles as Isabell Stuckey was first in 50.92 seconds, Jeylah Cabrales took second in 53.07 and Uriana Rivera was just behind in third at 53.61.

Stuckey also added a gold medal in the 100 hurdles, clocking in at 17.71 seconds with Rivera ending sixth at 18.70. Lexington Willis cruised to a second-place time of 2:38.23 in the 800 meters while Karmony Pearson was sixth in the 100 meters at 13.90 seconds. Pearson also placed third in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 6 ½ inches. Aubrey Orr added a fourth in the discus at 78 feet, 9 inches, as well as fifth in the shot put at 27 feet, 10 ¼ inches.

The sprint relay pairing of Rivera, Cabrales, Brylee Smith and Stuckey clocked in at 53.96 seconds for third place. The same group was fifth in the 800 relay in 1:58.04.

Samantha Ortiz, Braylee James, Cabrales and Willis teamed for a fifth in the 1,600 relay at 4:39.36 with the 3,200 relay squad of Willis, ShalynSchneider,Jamesand Ortiz also finishing fifth with a time of 11:15.20.

The Madill junior high boys were spurred by the first place 3,200 relay squad of Tatum Heavner, Kamden Martin, Jayden Barbosa and AlexGonzalezastheyclocked in at 8:59.89. Gonzalez also claimed the 1,600 meters in 5:02.92 with Martin checking in fifth at 5:10.36.

Other relay placing by the Wildcats were third in the 1600 at 3:55.86 with the group of Gonzalez, Heavner, Andrew Ramon and Valles. The 800-relay foursome of Dylan Serrano, Valles, Xavi Salazar and Ramon notched a time of 1:42.21 for third with the same unit ending fourth in the sprint relay in 48.13 seconds.

In the 400 meters Ramon was second in 58.36 with Blane Hawthorne placing fourth at 58.83 seconds. Heavner tossed in a second in the 800 meters in 2:11.73 with Gonzalez fourth at 2:18.04 and Hawthorne fifth in 2:20.18. Salazar added a sixth-place mark of 26.10 seconds in the 200 meters while Barbosa was fourth in the 3,200 meters clocking in at 11:44.10.

Steven Moreno checked in second in the pole vault with a leap of 10 feet even while teammate Vincent Acquaviva was sixth at seven feet even. Anthony Fuentes chipped in a third in the high jump with five feet, two inchesasMarquisIbarrawas fourth at five feet even.

EmilianoBautistanotched a sixth place finish in the long jump at 15 feet, 5 inches, Kevin Garcia was fifth in the shot put at 38 feet, 1 inchwhileAlexanderSarabia added a fourth in the discus at 121 feet, 11 inches.
