Madill has two win, two loss record for the weekend

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, Madill hosted the Comanche Indians. The Lady Wildcats got the night started when the Indians got on the board first with two points. With 5:40 left, Junior Jayden Weiberg was fouled and made both free throws tying the game two all. The Lady Indians answered right back with two more points. Senior Mariana Mendez got an under the basket jump shot, tying the game at four points each. Comanche came back for two more points. With 3:13 left in the first quarter, Weiberg swished nothing but net for three points. The Lady Wildcats took the lead by one, 7 to 6. Junior Braylee Schneider was wide open for two points under the basket. Comanche made two more points to end the quarter trailing the Lady Wildcats, 8 to 9.

The second quarter started with Junior Joslyn Stumbling-bear hitting a jump shot for two points. Mendez was fouled for two free throws. With 5:14 left in the first half, Junior Abbie Lambertsen was fouled and sent to the line where she made both free throws. The Lady Wildcats fouled Comanche where they made one free throw. Madill led the Lady Indians going into halftime, 15 to 9.

Comanche got on the board first in the third quarter, scoring two points. With 5:44 remaining, Weiberg threw a pass to Mendez for two points. The Lady Indians swished a three-pointer, closing the point gap and trailing 14 to 17.

Mendez was fouled and made on three throws. The Lady Indians got eight points back-to-back to close the third quarter leading, 22 to 18.

Schneider opened the fourth quarter with two points. Comanche had consecutive points tallying in six total points. Mendez was fouled and made one free throw. Lambertsen was then fouled and made one free throw. Senior Ximena Gomez shot for two points. Comanche came back with two points. Schneider added four points. Comanche shot for two points. With 1:24 left in the game, Stumblingbear added two more points. The Lady Indians had two two-pointers. With eight seconds left, Weiberg made two points, but it was not enough to win the game. The Lady Wildcats lost 32 to 36.

After the girls played, it was the boys’ turn to take the court. The Wildcats game began much like the Lady’s, the Indians got on the board first with two points. Junior Kendall Robertson rallied to swish a three-pointer. The Indians answered with their own three-pointer. Then, Robertson swished another three-pointer, and Comanche hit two more three-pointers to close the first quarter leading 11 to 6.

Senior Miguel Duran opened the second quarter with two points. The Indians rushed for two points. Duran made another two points and Comanche answered back with two points. Comanche led at halftime, 15 to 10.

The second half started with Comanche being fouled and making two free throws. Junior Nick Northcutt came back with two points for the Wildcats. With 6:01 remaining in the third quarter, Madill fouls Comanche where one free throw is made. Duran is then fouled and makes one free throw. With 5:05 left, Duran runs for a two-point jump shot. Comanche stayed focused to score three two–pointers. Senior Mason Coles made two points. The Indians swished a three pointer but Madill’s Duran swished a three pointer, too. That narrowed the gap, and left the Redskins trailing Comanche 20 to 27.

Comanche lit a fire in the fourth quarter, opening the quarter with two points. Junior Ezekiel Fuentes popped a two– pointer for the Wildcats. The Indians scored eight points, with Fuentes scoring two more points. The Wildcats dropped the game, 37 to 25.
