The Lady Redskins and Coach Chad Rumer, in a rare Saturday afternoon game, played host to the Lady Tigers from Roff on February 6, 2021 The. Lady Redskins protected their home court and won this one 53 to 34.
The Lady Tigers came into the game with a 15 and 5 record, ranked 13 th in Class B. They were not up to the defense that the Lady Redskins can dole out. In the first quarter, the Lady Redskins were moving well on both ends of the floor. They were advancing the ball quickly up the court and trapping on defense. Avri Weeks had two buckets inside and was 1 of 2 from the line. What really woke up the home fans was when she popped out beyond the arc from the top of the key and drained a threepointer. Ryan Herndon had a three, as well. Ethel Stewart was 1 of 2 from the line. Raegan Davis had a bucket. All this added up to a 14 to 9 lead at the buzzer.
Second quarter action had Weeks, once again, active on both ends. She had two buckets inside, got to the line and was 2 of 2. Herndon again had three points, this time the old fashion way, a bucket and a free throw. Emi O’Steen was 1 of 2 from the line. Lady Redskins led the Lady Tigers 24 to 13 at the intermission.
In the third quarter, Weeks had two field goals and was 2 of 2 from the free throw line. Herndon had a three and a two-point field goal. Kamry Bohannon hit a pretty threepointer and O’Steen had a bucket. The lead now was now up to 13, 38 to 25.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers seemed to be feeling the effects of the fast paced speed that the Lady Redskins were playing at. Weeks had two field goals and was 2 of 2 from the line. Herndon finished her night with another three-pointer. O’Steen added a three of her own and was 1 of 2 from the line. Bohannon had another field goal. The final score was 53 to 34.
Box Score: Weeks 24 points, including a three-pointer and she was 7 of 8 from the free throw line. On the defensive end, she had three steals and a block. Herndon had 14 points and was 1 of 3 from the line. Next up was O’Steen with seven points, she was 2 of 4 from the line. Bohannon had five and Davis had two. Stewart was 1 of 2 from the line. All three of the remaining games on the schedule were scheduled to be home games. The games were supposed to be Tuesday night, February 9, the Ladies play host to Comanche and on Friday night, February 12, the Dickson Comets visit. However, the Comanche game was cancelled due to inclement weather. The last regular season game, February 16 will have the Madill Lady Wildcats in town.
