Kingston boys post notch three dominant wins

It was a perfect week for the Kingston boys basketball team as the Redskins improved to 13-4 on the season while the girls notched a pair of victories.

Both teams notched solid wins to begin the week over Atoka as the 13th ranked Lady Redskins were 47-35 victors as the boys followed with a dominant 73-29 win.

The Redskins added a 78-31 thumping of Davis as well as 58-34 over Hennessey in the weather shortened Hennessey tournament to improve to 13-4 on the year. Coach Chad Rumer’s girls belted the Dale JV (60-28) in round one before falling to 14th rated Hennessey (44-32).

Girls

TheLadyRedskinstrailed Atoka 11-9 after one period before kicking things into gear during a 15-4 second quarter flurry to take control.

Taylie Wiebener provided the spark with two of her three treys in the game while pumpingineightpointsalong with Cassidy Walker’s six points.

After leading 24-15 at intermission Kingston added a 16-12 edge in the third stanza in pulling away spurred by another eight points from Walker.

The scoring leader for the Lady Redskins was Walker with 16 points as Wiebener also tallied double figures with 14. Avery Ludrick cashed in six points, Dextry Bowerman and Keeton Hatley tossed in four apiece, Dilynn Weeks had two and Destry Davis added one point.

Facing the Dale JV in the Hennessey tourney opener, Kingston held a narrow 12-8 edge through one stanza but broke things open with an 18-8 burst in the second frame and outscored the Pirates 16-6 in the third as well.

Bowerman took scoring honors with 13 points while Walker and Wiebener tallied 10 apiece. Ludrick scored nine, Davis had nine and Weeks notched six points.

Scoringwasmuchtougher to come by in the ranked showdown with Hennessey, but the Lady Redskins led most of the first half posting a7-5scoringadvantageinthe opening frame before going ahead 16-13 at halftime.

The hosts heated up in the third however and Kingston was unable to keep pace as they were outscored 31-16 over the final two periods.

Ludrick posted 13 points in pacing the Lady Redskin scoringandWiebenercanned three treys for nine points.

Boys

It was all Redskins from the start as they took command from the start and steadily pulled away.

Coach Taggart Lockhart’s unit was up 18-11 after one stanza sparked by eight points by Brock Rumer and outscored the Wampus Cats 22-6 in the second frame with Jack Hinsley posting eight more.

The Redskins added to the 40-17 halftime cushion by pouring on a 16-5 advantage in the third period and 17-7 in the fourth.

Rumer finished with scoring honors with 15 points as Hinsley was just behind with 14.

Ten other Kingston players also got in the scoring column with Blane Henry, Christian Davis and Bowen McAdams all contributing eight, Hayden Seeney scored five, Parks Ratzlaff had four, Lander Burkhalter and Dalton Barker posted three each, Jaylen Wilson and Reid Patterson scored two apiece with Hudson Everhart adding one point.

Kingston blasted Davis right out of the gate in the Hennessey tourney opener as Hinsley poured in half the Redskin points in building a 20-6 first period lead that expanded to 43-12 at intermission.

Hinsleytoppedfourdouble figure contributors with 16 points while Henry added 15, Burkhalter scored 11 and Rumer had 10. Two others were on the brink of double digits with Seeney’s nine points and eight from McAdams.

Another strong start propelled Kingston past host Hennessey as they claimed an 11-5 edge through one stanza, nine points of which came from Hinsley. They wereontop26-13atintermission and 44-29 over the hosts through three periods.

Four reached double figures again with Hinsley posting 14, Henry 13 while Rumer and Seeney pitched in 10 apiece.
