Madill Public Schools will have a new head coach for two sports coming into the 2022-2023 school year. Jared Hayes was chosen as the new head coach for the high school baseball and softball team. He said he looks forward to bringing his wife Sasha and his three-year-old son Brooks to MPS.

Hayes attended Kingston High School and graduated in 2013. After graduation, he coached at KHS for eight years. He was the head coach for junior high baseball and softball during his time at Kingston.

In 2021, Hayes left KHS to coach for Duncan High School. He was the assistant coach for high school softball and baseball.. He helped lead Duncan’s baseball team to a State Championship last season.

Hayes said he is ecstatic to coach for MHS. He said MPS Superintendent Larry Case and Athletic Director Brett Weiberg welcomed him with open arms to Madill.

“It felt like the right fit and felt like home, and I am excited for the opportunity to get the softball and baseball programs to the next step,” said Hayes.

Hayes said he believes his winning nature and ability to build relationships will benefit Madill. He wants to instill some winning qualities and learn more about his athletes to build connections with them.

“I don’t want the kids to have a relationship where they hate to come to practice because their coach doesn’t care about them and that’s one of the biggest things for me,” Hayes stated.

Hayes said he is certain that his softball team will do great things this season.

“I think we have a great group that is wanting to win and to compete, and they’re a fun group to be around.”

He said he is looking to surprise people this season and would love the support from all Wildcat fans.
